Harold McWhorter of Tallapoosa will be singing at Freeman Memorial United Methodist Church at East Newnan on May 17.
The "evening of pure singing pleasure" will begin at 7, according to Elaine Kee, a member at Freeman Memorial. "Mr. McWhorter's talented voice has brought joy to his many listeners," she said.

Refreshments will be served after the concert.
Since 1976 McWhorter has been a full-time musician, appearing regularly at Christian supper clubs throughout the South. He also has filled concert, banquet, revival, campmeeting and special occasion dates.
McWhorter regularly entertains at several state conventions each year. He has written more than 400 songs and recorded nine albums. He records with Golden River Records and publishes with McWhorter Publishing House, BMI. Producers with whom Harold has worked include Harold Shedd, Don Tweedy, Ronny Light, Scott Turner and Tommy Hill.
McWhorter's recording of "Murillo's Lesson" was -- for two weeks -- Number 1 in Atlanta on WSB Radio's Hit Parade. It was in the Top 20 for 14 straight weeks.
His compositions,"'Living on the Mountain," "America I Love You," "Bring Back the Songs" and "Sin Will Take You Farther" have been performed on network TV and radio. Artists who have recorded McWhorter;s songs include the Cathedrals, the Inspirations, the Chuck Wagon Gang and the Flurrys.
The Rex Nelon Sings have asked permission to record "Sin Will Take You Farther", and Connie Hopper has asked to record "Homecoming Day."
The Cathedrals record of "Sin Will Take You Farther" reached No. 1 in the nation in August 1989 on the Cashbox Magazine list. The song was on the National Hit Charts for 11 consecutive months. Greater Vision also recorded "Sin Will Take You Farther."
McWhorter's album, "Love What He's All About," was in the Top 24 on Radio Station KFMR, the Christian Voice of the Bay Area in Oakland, Calif.
McWhorter was recently appointed to the 15-member board of the recording industry for the state of Georgia. He often writes commercials for radio and TV,
He also often appears with the Harold McWhorter Trio. The trio is composed of his brother, Buck McWhorter; cousin, Dianne Gray; and himself.
McWhorter's recent TV appearances include Columbus, Savannah, Atlanta, Nashville, Miami, Knoxville and Clearwater, Fla. Live radio programs on which McWhorter has performed include "The 'Little' Roy Wiggins Show" in Nashville, and the post "Opry" Saturday Night Show at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop in Nashville.
His composition, "Walking Side by Side," is background music for the "American Masters" TV production of "Aretha Franklin: Queen of Soul", filmed in 1990.
